Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra, a highly rated and extremely functional Gen 4 robotic vacuum and mop is a high-quality machine. The price of $1,400 is a bit steep however, you can find it on sale often enough to make it more palatable. The unit looks great, and the base station occupies just a small space in the corner of the room.
The design of this robot addresses some problems we've encountered with other robotic mop and vacuum units, such as brushes that get caught in hair, and the vacuum brush not being able to reach bare flooring underneath furniture. The sweeping performance on carpets and floors that are not covered is also impressive. The vacuum/mop system has an excellent amount of debris removal and the mop is able to soak up floors that are not soiled.
The mops also employ a smart system to clean along the edges of furniture and walls. The robot avoids most bulkier obstacles like food bowls, toys, shoes, and backpacks without any problem. It can get tangled or get stuck with smaller, less hefty objects like shoelaces, USB cables and pen.
This robot was used to mop and vacuum hardwood flooring FLOR carpet tiles, as well as pile rugs in a huge open-plan house. With FREO Mind enabled, it vacuumed and mopped a 90m2 area in about 170 minutes, which is close to average for Gen 4.

Certain features differentiate this robot from others in its class. Freo X Ultra is equipped with numerous enhancements in sensors, software, and hardware to keep it ahead of its class. It has been declared to have an autonomy of 3.5 hours in environments up to 260 square meters.
Freo's app lets you customize multiple functions, including how often the robot returns to its base station. You can also alter the frequency of mopping as well as the power level (silent or smart) or the mopping's humidity. The app can also identify areas with a lot of dirt and devise a streamlined cleaning route, as well as dispense detergent or raise the carpet's pads.
Other notable features include a rapid charging battery, a simple-to-read display on the robot's bottom and a practical dock door that is easy to open. The Freo X Ultra vacuum and mop is ideal for apartment and home owners who wish to cut down on chores and keep their homes tidy.
Miele Scout RX3
Miele is no slouches in the world of robot vacuums and is renowned for quality and technological innovation. This new model is designed to elevate the cleaning performance to a whole new level, with its advanced features.
The RX3 features a dual-suction system and intelligent mapping that incorporates 3D mapping, and a camera which transmits a real-time image to your smartphone. The powerful four-stage cleaning system offers excellent dust pickup on carpet and hard floors, while its easy-to-use side brushes with a swing-out feature and two suction channels keep corners clean. for beginners lets it reach under furniture that is low. Front cameras and infrared sensor assist in navigating obstacles, thresholds, and obstacles with ease.
In our test of how it cleaned baking soda from corners and baseboards, the Scout RX3 was impressive. Its 2,500Pa of suction was less powerful than other robots, but it moved quickly and was quiet. It did not mop and its removable cleaning pad was a challenge to attach. It also couldn't handle dirt that was dried on.
The app doesn't have advanced features such as multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It does support Alexa however its voice controls aren't particularly precise or responsive. It's also flaky when it comes to getting back to the charging station following an outing -- other robots can trace a previous path or follow a wall around until they reach their destination, but the RX3 simply bumbles around until it gives up and sends a message of failure to your phone.
Another issue we had was with its smart features, particularly the mapping function and digital keep-out zones. It was great at keeping our furniture legs and shoes away however it could easily get caught on cables, socks and rugs. We didn't include the Scout RX3 on our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and impressive performance. It's worth a look as an alternative to uprights that are traditionally used.
