Vacuuming With a Robot Hoover is the Best Hands-Off Model We've Tested
This high-end bot from Eufy is the most hands-free model we've tested so far. It vacuums, mop and self-empties and dry mop pads without you having to do anything.
It's not equipped with the latest cleaning techniques and a bigger docking station, but provides impressive performance for less than half the price of top-end robot vacuums. It also features an incredibly compact design that can reach under furniture.
Vacuuming
Vacuuming with a robot hoover is a quick, easy method to keep your floors clean and tidy. Many of the robots we've selected are designed to operate without the involvement of you, so you can set them up to clean your floors while you're out or start an appointment from your phone. You'll want to select an excellent robot that can navigate and object detection in order to avoid getting stuck in furniture or on the stairs.

Some models are better at removing pet hair from carpets than others, so it's important to select the right model that will efficiently and effectively clean all flooring types. Look for a robot with an enormous dust bin that can hold a lot of dirt between emptying, and a nozzle which does not lose suction as it rotates.
Most robots require little to no maintenance besides removing tangled hair from the rotating brush (and wiping down its cameras or sensors as needed) after each cleaning session and regularly emptying the trash bin or using an automatic emptying base when the robot is equipped with one. If you follow these simple upkeep steps, your robot vac should last just as long as a regular vacuum, and will help keep your home clean for longer.
While robot mops are generally less versatile than vacuums Some have the ability to clean up spills and puddles while they're doing their thing. The iLife V3s Pro, a great example of machine, is an excellent choice for those with carpets and rugs or wood flooring. It is quiet and has good navigation capabilities, which allowed it to overcome obstacles during tests. The charging dock can also function as a trash bin.
To get the best results, choose an appliance that can do both vacuuming and mopping at the same time. Karcher's RCV 5 does this, and it also comes with other features that are beneficial, such as live cameras that sends a blurry image to your app, so you can keep an eye on your pet or kids and a remote control that is easily programable. Its navigation may not be as precise as the other models in this selection however, its 500ml dustbin is large and doesn't require frequent emptying.
Mopping
Robots that mop and vacuum are relatively new to the market. They are more expensive than standalone robots and require an additional water tank, however, the additional cost could be worth it for a lot of people, especially those with hard-to-clean stains or pets.
Some of the top robots can clean floors and carpets and also vacuum. There are a number of brands that offer all-in-one robotics that perform both tasks with ease. The Combo j9+, for example, is one of the top mopping machines we've tested. It has an impressively large dock that can hold up to 60 days of debris. This is an enormous improvement over the Qrevo Pro which ran out water after mopping only 30 days of dirt during our tests.
The Tapo RV30 plus from networking giant TP-Link is a good two-in-one. It's quiet and compact and has a clean, fuss-free appearance. In our test rooms, it was able to clean the floors thoroughly and accurately - it did particularly well on rugs, however it took several runs to completely clean certain areas of soiled wood. Its LIDAR navigation works well as well. automated vacuum cleaner is able to avoid hitting furniture or running over power cables.
It's a little slow on the stairs but that's to be expected from a compact robot that is designed to work around obstacles. Its only downside is its mopping pad attachment that was difficult to use to hold in its place during our tests. It also has a problem dealing with dust that has dried on and dust, which makes it more like an ordinary vacuum cleaner than a robot mop.
Despite these shortcomings however, it's a great choice for those who want a hands-off cleaning experience that can take care of carpets with equal ease. It had a good amount of suction that allowed it to remove fine dust from carpets and pet hair. Automatic carpet recognition is a wonderful feature because it boosts the power of vacuuming to take on dirt that is embedded. It is easy to use, and the charging dock automatically emptyes the bin when it's full. This is an excellent feature for apartment dwellers.
Cleaning apps
The majority of robot vacuums, mops, and sweepers come with an application that lets you modify cleaning routines. You can also pick rooms to be cleaned, plan cleaning sessions and adjust settings like suction levels, water levels and scrubbing strength. Some robots offer intelligent dirt detection that utilizes map data and past cleaning data to determine the most soiled areas.
You can also make use of an app to create virtual barriers and no go zones to keep your robot away from dangerous objects, like cords and pet water bowls. Some models allow you to create these virtual barriers using laser navigation sensors, while others come with small physical boundaries or barriers which you can put wherever you want to block off your floor area.
There are still dangers to be aware of even though the top robot vacuums can recognize and avoid obstacles. For instance, a robot's main brush could get stuck on long cords or curtains, which can stop the machine from running. You can prevent this by clearing the area of all cords and tying up any long curtains before running your robot.
Certain robots automatically update the software that controls their navigation and obstacle avoidance techniques, which enhances performance and reduces wear and tear on the robot's internal components. It is a good idea to periodically to check the website of the manufacturer or your robot's app for firmware updates.
If you have a large home, you should consider a model with multiple cleaning modes. The iRobot Roomba 11S Max can sweep and vacuum hard and carpeted floors using different suction settings. It can also automatically switch the power setting to the highest level when cleaning carpets, and boost its scrubbing power by using SmartScrub.
If you want to be hands-off, a robot with the ability to speak to a voice-activated assistant is a fantastic option. The iRobot Roomba 980 can be controlled by Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant. It is equipped with a compact self-emptying docking device and a powerful cleaning motor that leaves your floors sparkling.
